What the game processes

Owlvertime has no player accounts and never sends an exact hourly wage to the server. If you enter an optional leaderboard name, that nickname is submitted with a completed run and can appear publicly in the score and value rankings. Leaving it empty uses “Anonymous Owl”. The submitted run also contains the country code, a capped comparison band derived from the active wage, playing mode, duration, score, and a short-lived random run identifier used to prevent duplicate submissions. It does not store precise location, email address, user agent, or a durable IP address in the application database.

Legal basis

Publishing an optional leaderboard nickname is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw consent for future runs at any time by clearing the nickname. To request removal of existing nickname leaderboard entries, contact pints-string-9g@icloud.com. Reduced run data and aggregated, non-personal statistics (daily and country totals and page view counts) are processed based on legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in operating, securing and improving the game. Anonymous aggregate statistics cannot be individually withdrawn because no identifying link exists.

Purpose and retention

Run data is validated and added directly to anonymous daily and country totals in Cloudflare D1. The temporary duplicate identifier expires after seven days. To understand how people discover Owlvertime, the site also stores aggregated daily page-view dimensions: requested page, broad source category (direct, search, social, referral or internal), referring hostname without the URL path or query string, country code, broad device category (desktop, mobile or tablet), and sanitized UTM campaign labels when present. Automated bots and common monitoring clients are excluded. No IP address, complete user-agent, visitor ID, exact location or individual browsing history is retained. Infrastructure providers may keep short-lived technical logs independently.

Local browser storage

The game stores settings, an optional self-entered exact hourly wage and cumulative personal estimates locally in this browser. These values are never sent to the statistics API. A dismissible storage notice explains this necessary local storage and can be reopened from “Cookie settings” in the footer. Advertising and marketing cookies are not used. Campaign links use standard UTM parameters and do not create a tracking cookie or personal profile.

Provider, transfers and your rights

Cloudflare states that eligible transfers to the United States rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and that Standard Contractual Clauses, including supplementary measures where necessary, apply to restricted transfers. Depending on applicable law, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, data portability and to withdraw consent at any time. You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian data protection authority (Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde, https://www.dsb.gv.at) or another competent supervisory authority.
